Join us for this exciting event as we test your E.Q.--your environmental quotient!
How to Get Involved and Win $2500...
Simple! Organize your fourth grade students and field a team in the Quiz Bowl set for May 4, 2013 at Ridge Ferry Park in Rome. The competition is open to all public and private schools in the 5,000-square-mile Upper Coosa River Basin (see map here).
About the EQ Bowl
The Environmental Quiz Bowl Tournament is a round-robin style tournament for fourth-grade students in a quiz bowl, or college bowl, format. Teams consist of five players, with up to three alternates or substitutes. The teams are asked questions that require knowledge of local natural and cultural history, earth science and life science as well as mathematics skills. The purpose of the Quiz Bowl is to encourage environmental education in area schools and to promote environmental awareness and stewardship among students, teachers, administration and parents.

Prizes & Perks!
All participating students and instructors receive Environmental Quiz Bowl t-shirts and a complimentary lunch courtesy of Papa John’s Pizza in Rome. Awards will be presented to the top three teams in the competition. The winning team will receive a Captain Planet Foundation grant of up to $2500 (grant proposals must be approved by the Captain Planet Foundation) See http://captainplanetfoundation.org/apply-for-grants/ for details on grant requirements. The winning team will also receive a framed photograph and plaque for display at the school.
Students on the top three teams will receive complimentary tickets to Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville and/or movie passes from Village Theaters in Rome. Coaches of the top three teams will receive gift certificates from Lavender Mountain Hardware.
Please join us and test your E.Q. (Environmental Quotient). When all is said and done, we’ll find out which Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama elementary school has the most woods and water wits!
