March 20: Fish Weir Paddle on the Upper Etowah River
Join CRBI and the Upper Etowah River Alliance for this 15-mile paddle on the Etowah that takes you through the heart of Cherokee County and the former haunts of the Cherokee Indians. Paddle over fish weirs and through a surprisingly wild landscape.
March 27: McGraw Ford Paddle on Etowah River
Join CRBI and the Upper Etowah River Alliance for this 15-mile paddle on the Etowah from Old Federal Road to East Cherokee Drive—a trip that cuts through the heart of the scenic McGraw Ford Wildlife Management Area.
April 10: New Echota Coosawattee & Oostanaula Paddle
Join CRBI and New Echota Rivers Alliance for this 11-mile tour that covers the confluence of the Coosawattee and Conasauga rivers where the Cherokee Indians established their circa 1820s town of New Echota. The trip ends in downtown Calhoun.
April 25: Earth Day Paddle on the Etowah
What better way to celebrate Earth Day than discovering what is arguably the Etowah’s most picturesque six-mile stretch (Hardin Bridge to 411). This is a great paddle for families and children with plenty of play places and beautiful scenery. If we’re lucky we’ll catch the drum running up river—a true sight to behold.
May 8: Cedar Creek Paddle with Cedar Creek Park
Explore beautiful Cedar Creek near Cave Spring with our supporters, Cedar Creek Park. This 5-mile paddle from Lyons Bridge Road to US 411 will introduce you to this intimate little creek and the cold water springs so common to this area.
May 15 (Saturday): Terrpin Creek Paddle in Cherokee County, AL
Join CRBI for an exploration of this beautiful Cherokee County, Alabama creek which feeds the Coosa River below Weiss Dam. Terrapin Outdoor Center will host this paddle trip.
May 22: Major Ridge’s Paddle on the Oostanaula River
This paddle will take you on a 13-mile journey from Ga. 140 to Ridge Ferry Park and through history. You’ll paddle past U.S. Army Corps of Engineers wing dams, a Native American fish weir and Chieftain’s Museum—home of Cherokee Indian leader Major Ridge.
May 29: Conasauga River Paddle
Join CRBI and New Echota Rivers Alliance for a trip one of the Coosa Basin’s most biologically diverse tributaries. This intimate 8-mile paddle through tree-shaded gentle waters on the Upper Conasauga is a real crowd pleaser. We’ll journey from Beaverdale to Norton Bridge Road.
June 12: Family Paddle on Etowah
This 10-mile paddle begins in the shadows of Euharlee’s historic covered bridge and ends at US 411, featuring beautiful islands and shoals, plus Native American fish weirs.
June 19 : Upper Coosawattee Native American History Paddle
Join CRBI and New Echota Rivers Alliance for this 9-mile paddle that takes you from Carters Dam into Gordon County and through a river corridor rich in Native American history.
July 17 New Echota Paddle on the Coosawattee & Oostanaula River
Join CRBI and New Echota Rivers Alliance for this 15 mile paddle from the New Echota Historic Site to downtown Calhoun on the Coosawattee & Oostanaula Rivers
July 31: Fish Weir Paddle on the Upper Etowah River

Aug. 7: Indian Mound Paddle on Etowah
This trip takes you from Allatoona Dam to Euharlee on a 17-mile course through history. Visit the Etowah Indian Mounds the way the Native Americans did—via canoe! Also paddle over numerous fish weirs, past Georgia Power’s Plant Bowen and under historic Milam Bridge.
Aug. 14: Peacock Alley Paddle on the Oostanaula
Join CRBI and New Echota Rivers Alliance as we celebrate Northwest Georgia’s rich textile heritage with this float down the river that helped make the area the Carpet Capital of the World. This trip will take us 10 miles from downtown Calhoun to the new Ga. 156 boat ramp.
Aug. 28: McGraw Ford Paddle on Etowah River
Join CRBI and the Upper Etowah River Alliance for this 10-mile paddle on the Etowah from Yellow Creek Road to East Cherokee Drive—a trip that cuts through the heart of the scenic McGraw Ford Wildlife Management Area.
Sept. 11: Fish Weir Paddle on the Etowah
Traditionally one of our most popular paddles, this trip plots a 17-mile course from US 411 to Grizzard Park in Rome, providing access to the best of the Etowah’s fish weirs and other historic sites.
Sept. 18: Oostanaula Odyssey Paddle Trip
Join CRBI and New Echota Rivers Alliance and celebrate Earth Day with a 17-mile paddle on the Oostanaula River from Ga. 156 to Ga. 140. This is a beautiful tour of Northwest Georgia’s Ridge & Valley region featuring beautiful bluffs, inviting sandbars and loads of freshwater mussel habitat.
Sept. 23: Harvest Moon Paddle
Catch the Harvest Moon over the Coosa River on this 6-mile, moonlight paddle from Heritage Park in Downtown Rome to Lock and Dam Park on the Coosa.
Oct. 2: Coosawattee Paddle
Join CRBI and New Echota Rivers Alliance for this journey through the Coosawattee’s scenic corridor in Gordon County ending at the Ga. 225 boat ramp near Calhoun.
Oct. 30: Fall FoliagePaddle
This 12-mile trip takes you from Grizzard Park on Rome’s outskirts, through the heart of the city and on to historic Lock and Dam Park on the Coosa.
