Join CRBI for its annual membership meeting featuring a review of our activities in 2011, volunteer and supporter awards and a panel discussion titled: "Dams to No Where? Reservoirs, Water & Money," a look at the ongoing push to build new water supply reservoirs in the Upper Coosa River Basin. Water supply reservoirs represent perhaps the biggest threat to the health and integrity of the Upper Coosa River Basin. Numerous proposed reservoir projects threaten federally protected fish species and river flows to downstream communities. Furthermore, these projects threaten to divert limited state funds from cost-effective conservation and efficiency projects.

The Panel Discussion will by moderated by Rome News-Tribune reporter Doug Walker and will feature:

John Bennett, Rome City Manager and chairman of the Coosa-North Georgia Water Planning Council. Bennett has served as Rome City Manager since 1984 and has served in numerous water planning advisory capacities at local, regional and state levels.

Gil Rogers, an attorney specializing in water law with the non-profit Southern Environmental Law Center in Atlanta. Rogers is a member of the Georgia Water Coalition leadership team and a graduate of Harvard Law School. He is currently involved in litigation to stop the construction of a recreational reservoir near Cairo, Georgia.

Scott Cole, an attorney and reservoir consultant with the law firm Hall, Booth, Smith & Slover, PC. in Atlanta. Cole has been involved in the development 15 water supply reservoirs and is currently involved in the development of the proposed Calhoun Creek Reservoir in Dawson County.
