100-plus adventurers meet challenge of high water in Adventure Race

Seven Hills High water, swift moving currents and muddy floodplains highlighted CRBI's 7 Hills 3 Rivers Adventure Race held Sept. 26, just five days after torrential rains soaked North Georgia. The record rains made for a muddy course that included a  Burwell Creek floodplain thigh-deep in water, a rain-swollen Silver Creek, Etowah and Coosa rivers and more fun...and grueling challenges than you could shake a rain stick at. Despite these challenges, the racers persevered to post impressive times. The fastest finishers completed the course in about three hours. The course included more than four miles of running, nine miles of cycling and three miles of paddling. Some 100 people competed in the event that helped raise funds for CRBI's education, advocacy, water monitoring and restoration programs.
